DOCSDesktop app
Install the desktop app
Install QuantLab on your PC and work in the desktop application. The website provides downloads, account access, and documentation. Your MT5 compilation and DeepTests run on your hardware; online services support sign-in and AI.
Your compute
MT5 compilation and DeepTests use your PC and its MetaTrader installation.
One workspace
Build, edit, test, and review results inside the installed QuantLab application.
Stay connected
Internet access is needed for sign-in, AI requests, and account services.
- 01
Download QuantLab
Use Download for Windows on the QuantLab website to get the installer. QuantLab is an installed Windows application with your projects, code editor, and backtest results in one workspace. - 02
Run the installer
Launch the installer and follow the prompts, then open QuantLab from your desktop or Start menu. Keep the application open while a build or test is running. - 03
Open QuantLab and sign in
Sign in to your QuantLab account inside the application. You can also use its browser sign-in option and return to QuantLab when prompted. Your workspace opens in the installed app. - 04
Set up MetaTrader 5
QuantLab can detect an existing MetaTrader 5 installation or help you install it. Connect MT5 to a trading account or a free demo so it can download price history. If you choose a new demo, complete the account form in MetaTrader. - 05
Run your first local backtest
In the QuantLab desktop workspace, build an MT5 bot and choose Run MT5 DeepTest. QuantLab compiles the code and runs your local MetaTrader Strategy Tester. Review the equity curve, trades, and metrics in the application. - 06
(Optional) Connect your own AI key
On an eligible plan, open Settings → Integrations, paste your Anthropic or OpenAI API key. Builds generated with your key don't count against your plan's monthly cap, you simply pay the model provider directly.
